Eating

We all do it. Some of us do it more than others. Some less. There are even contests for eating!

But, what are you eating? Really. Read the package.

Since you may know, I'm not a cereal eater. Actually, I believe it's because I'm not a milk drinker. Never really liked milk. So, not drinking milk may have something to do with not enjoying a bowl of milk and cereal. Lately I've been thinking I should have cereal in my home just in case my toddler would like a normal American breakfast some day.

So, I looked high and low at the mile long option. Geez - have you ever noticed the variety? The colors alone will overstimulate you! Some of them make claims of "healthy" and "Fortified with Vitamin A and E". I just happen to have some instant oatmeal here. Oatmeal should be healthy, less the fact that this oatmeal is instant and is Maple 'n Brown Sugar but is "sugar free."

Ingredient: Whole Grain Oats, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Guar Gum, Caramel Color, Aspartame, Acesulfame Potassium, Ferric Orthophosphate, Niacinamid, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Vitamin A, Thiamine Monoitrate, Folic Acid. Contains: Phenylalanine.

Oatmeal, people, this is oatmeal!!

I do not need High Frutose Corn Syrup, MGS, sugar in any form but natural stuff, or any modified over-processed "food" scientist just discovered.

Sadly, I do see slurping purple milk from a bowl in my toddler's near future.

The Update Issue

Since it's been (gulp!) a very long time that I've posted, I'll enlighten you to what I've been up to. I have been plotting and planning to have a kick-butt garden that I can feed my family from year 'round. It does sound easy since it's just the three of us. BUT, since my toddler LOVES veggies, I need to grow twice as many and I think I need. I started lettuce and spinach at the beginning of March and we're already harvesting! Ever hear a toddler beg for lettuce?

During the winter I vowed to go through our boxes full of who-knows-what and make a quick choice: give, sell, trash or treasure. I allow three to four treasure boxes that are keepsakes and memories. Items that you never look at but can't bare parting with. I'm happy to report that we've gone from 30 boxes to 6!! It feels like a huge weight off my shoulders. However, now I have to organize a garage sale to rid of it all. I have already donated my son's stuff to either my brother and my friend, Sue.

I have also stepped up my recycling/reusing/consuming less goal. I keep all plastic containers to start my veggies in before they hit the garden. My glass containers are reused for all sorts of things - I made lots of homemade hot chocolate during the winter months and would give it away to visitors. My son's 11 year old told me it was better than the "crap you buy in the store." I didn't like that he used crap, but his message was louder than the borderline cursing. I also compost all matter that I can. The Hub now goes to the dump every 2 weeks with 1 trashcan full. It does help that the toddler is completely potty trained!! (HUGE goal in my eyes!!)

So, what are your plans for this year?

A long, long time ago

Well, I'm back. Sorry folks, I know you've been wondering where Mac has been. Well, I've been busy - see...

Winter pretty much exhausted me and this little guy. He is growing too quickly. From 2T to 4 and 5T in a month!!

We've been working on our home, getting ready for mud season. I've been very busy in the kitchen whipping up new creations like:

How to make A1 Steak Sauce:

http://www.ehow.com/how_4907229_steak-sauce.html

Super yummy and know you know what's in it. Since there are no preservatives, you have to use it all within 90 days which isn't hard in my house!

So, what are you up to? What are you making??

Missing Baby!

He's been hiding. Not just from me but anyone.
Mention a diaper change - he'll be gone in a flash!!
Where does he venture off to?:

He can fit into a 5 gallon bucket.

In a box.

Playing drums.

Oh, like last night, sleeping in his big boy bed!

Lists

I make lists. And lists of lists. At one time I had lists of lists of lists. Crazy redundancies in each one. They were about two weeks old and more was being added than accomplished. Maddening.

I got tired of looking at them one day and tossed it all in the woodstove. I felt if it was that important, I would have done the deed by now. Either by force (get gas for car) or by need (go grocery shopping). But some tasks slipped through. I have yet to get a Christmas Present for a family member. I don't want them to think their gift went unappreciated or unnoticed.

Reflecting back to my random thoughts yesterday regarding my inability is recalling passwords and such, I have a present day conundrum. If I cannot keep a to-do list and can't remember things I need to do - what's the next step? Keeping a list of only 10 things and I can't add any until I take some away? I would feel accomplished but more like mollified.

Random

I've always been random in thoughts, conclusions, activities and conversations. Lately I've taken a step back from my life cuz I need a break and to gain a bigger picture of my life.

Since my home, my life, my stuff is currently being shuffled back into boxes for continued construction, I needed to not be involved completely. I had to remove my feelings and increase my vision.

Guess what I saw?

1. My one child has a lot of toys - and they are everywhere! I cannot go into one area and not find something.

2. There's a spatula in my car.

3. My husband may have built the house but still cannot find the laundry room.

4. I need to do laundry.

5. I used to be embarrassed about my pink house. Now I find it comical.

6. It will soon be fishing season again. And, once again, I get to shame my husband since he has all these new lures that get the biggest fish. I still hold the record for the largest bass he's ever seen - which I got on my first cast of the day.

7. After days of rain and above freezing weather, my tri-footage of snow at my house is now at duo-footage.

8. I cannot remember my passwords at certain times. And I was told to never write them down.

9. I need afternoon caffeine. Either coffee or soda.

ok - 9 is enough.
