Missing Baby!

He's been hiding. Not just from me but anyone.
Mention a diaper change - he'll be gone in a flash!!
Where does he venture off to?:

He can fit into a 5 gallon bucket.

In a box.

Playing drums.

Oh, like last night, sleeping in his big boy bed!

Lists

I make lists. And lists of lists. At one time I had lists of lists of lists. Crazy redundancies in each one. They were about two weeks old and more was being added than accomplished. Maddening.

I got tired of looking at them one day and tossed it all in the woodstove. I felt if it was that important, I would have done the deed by now. Either by force (get gas for car) or by need (go grocery shopping). But some tasks slipped through. I have yet to get a Christmas Present for a family member. I don't want them to think their gift went unappreciated or unnoticed.

Reflecting back to my random thoughts yesterday regarding my inability is recalling passwords and such, I have a present day conundrum. If I cannot keep a to-do list and can't remember things I need to do - what's the next step? Keeping a list of only 10 things and I can't add any until I take some away? I would feel accomplished but more like mollified.

Random

I've always been random in thoughts, conclusions, activities and conversations. Lately I've taken a step back from my life cuz I need a break and to gain a bigger picture of my life.

Since my home, my life, my stuff is currently being shuffled back into boxes for continued construction, I needed to not be involved completely. I had to remove my feelings and increase my vision.

Guess what I saw?

1. My one child has a lot of toys - and they are everywhere! I cannot go into one area and not find something.

2. There's a spatula in my car.

3. My husband may have built the house but still cannot find the laundry room.

4. I need to do laundry.

5. I used to be embarrassed about my pink house. Now I find it comical.

6. It will soon be fishing season again. And, once again, I get to shame my husband since he has all these new lures that get the biggest fish. I still hold the record for the largest bass he's ever seen - which I got on my first cast of the day.

7. After days of rain and above freezing weather, my tri-footage of snow at my house is now at duo-footage.

8. I cannot remember my passwords at certain times. And I was told to never write them down.

9. I need afternoon caffeine. Either coffee or soda.

ok - 9 is enough.

47

Not only is 47 my favorite number, but it's also the temperature at 8am this morning.

That's 47 ABOVE zero!

Spring is approaching earlier than usual which also makes mud season come sooner as well. People have started to rope off their driveway which is an odd practice to me. I understand why they do it, but if it's a problem every year, why not get gravel and crushed stone or pave?

In preparation of mud season, I stopped by a local shop last night to get the Wee One some mud boots since he doesn't own winter boots. I got him cute little mud boots with bugs on them and he wouldn't wear them! He was interested but to get him to put them on in the store or at home was impossible. The reason he doesn't own winter boots is because he hates them. I've tried all of them various times. Same with sandals - while in the Sunshine State I had to get him sandals since it was hot. He would not wear them. As soon as I take one shoe off and he sees a different coming on, he freaks out and starts to point at his shoe. Hopefully this is just a phase of entering the Terrible Twos.

We still have 3 feet of snow at my house. (Sue, stop laughing!) It's the hard kind of snow that you can walk on, so for the last few days when I get home from my day I walk around the yard. You know you still have time to plan your veggie garden when the picnic table is under the 3 feet of snow you walk upon.

This tri-footage of snow seems to be secluded to my house only. One of the local golf courses has opened the driving range, tulip bulbs are popping up in Wilmington, tree buds in Bloomingdale and still an ice glacier on Whiteface. Hopefully with such hot weather and rain in the forecast, my tri-footage will be gone and I will embrace mud season!!

Auntie 'Em!!

Welcome to Kansas!

We had serious winds last night that were clocked at 53 mph! I was worried that a tree was going to fall. I didn't care if it fell on the house, on my car but DON'T fall into the driveway! I'd be trapped either home or out of home. My experience with a chainsaw doesn't exists. {Reason #4,693 why I married.} So, I would be at Mother Nature's mercy.

We have these two blue spruce trees that I adore that line our driveway. I love their teal color. But since our property was entirely forest, when we opened it up, we were bound to get some trees that couldn't take the open wind. These spruces have cracked and are bon-fire bound maybe this summer. I was talking to a local builder and he said that blue spruce do not live long and they are prone to being blown down so I should just cut them down now. No, not going to happen.

In other entertainment was this mornings' commute to work and playing "dodge the blowing _____". Last night I had to dodge an ice shanty that crossed the road from Lake Colby. This morning there were multiple trees, garbage cans, sap buckets and scattered random garbage.

Progress Report

There once was a family that opted to build instead of buy. Silly thought. Especially when you toss a baby in the mix. That baby is now a toddler and enjoys construction.

I had left for a week "vacation" to Florida. This is what I left:

Ok - it was WAAAY worse than this. No dishwasher. No sink. Still no dishwasher or sink.

And I say "vacation" because traveling and being away with a baby isn't exactly a vacation. It's exhausting work! Constant running, grabbing something before he does and teaching him NOT to keep going upstairs again and again.

But, I came home to this:

LOVE it! Still have a bit of work to do. We just sealed the grout last night. The fridge is back in place. Dishwasher still located in living room but I happy with progress!!

I can't wait for more progress reports - but til then enjoy:

That's one hot baby in Florida.

Groutchy

I bet you are wondering - where's the pics? They are coming. Going on "vacation" doesn't mean a total vacation. I came back to a construction zone - like, 5 gallon bucket under my sink that's been relocated to my dining room. Dish washer in is living room, not functional.

Ok, yes I had a great vacation. But to come back to this and have a bucket to dump twice as I hand wash dishes - not happy. I don't have the words for this type of camping I'm doing. But SOON, I'm told, I will have my kitchen back. And maybe add some cabinet with doors and such. Have you seen pics of my "kitchen" - prob not.

Ah, reason for title - the hub is grouting the kitchen floor he laid while I was gone. He is exhausted still from doing the task. He almost hates me but he knew there's no way to tile with toddler in house.

I promise pics next post.

I can do anything!

I'm totally unsure what to call this post.

I've been through a whirlwind of excitement, adventure, public restrooms, public diaper changes at 20,000 feet, odd looking sandwiches, perfect pour drinks, under-appreciated employees, pilots...(I flew on a 10 person plane - that includes 2 pilots but there was always just 5 of us on the plane each way - on our flight from Boston to the ADK's, I accidentally kicked the pilot because my foot was asleep since my 19 month old "baby" FINALLY fell asleep on my lap and my leg was cramping up so I needed to stretch.

I still have yet to tell about airport parking, antique residents in Florida, me with GPS, catching a lady that passed out, my son pooping while staring down a stranger I was talking to about how to teach a baby sigh language, the lack of use of blinkers and palm trees.

Did you know hula hoops are making a comeback?

Traffic. Don't miss it. Although, I miss the gas prices. $1.85.

However, now that I've traveled with said baby, on small planes, big planes, long waits in lines, in tight places - I feel a sort of accomplishment.

I didn't eat a flamingo.

I missed the snow.

Honestly, and you may say I'm selfish, but I went to Florida so my husband could tile our kitchen. You cannot tile with toddler around when you live in an open floor plan house. The tile is beautiful!

I didn't mention the chocolate covered bacon - MMMMMmmmmmmm - Amazing!!!

Single

I'm back to single digit weather.

I have so much to write.

So many adventures.

More later...
