Not only is 47 my favorite number, but it's also the temperature at 8am this morning.
That's 47 ABOVE zero!
Spring is approaching earlier than usual which also makes mud season come sooner as well. People have started to rope off their driveway which is an odd practice to me. I understand why they do it, but if it's a problem every year, why not get gravel and crushed stone or pave?
In preparation of mud season, I stopped by a local shop last night to get the Wee One some mud boots since he doesn't own winter boots. I got him cute little mud boots with bugs on them and he wouldn't wear them! He was interested but to get him to put them on in the store or at home was impossible. The reason he doesn't own winter boots is because he hates them. I've tried all of them various times. Same with sandals - while in the Sunshine State I had to get him sandals since it was hot. He would not wear them. As soon as I take one shoe off and he sees a different coming on, he freaks out and starts to point at his shoe. Hopefully this is just a phase of entering the Terrible Twos.
We still have 3 feet of snow at my house. (Sue, stop laughing!) It's the hard kind of snow that you can walk on, so for the last few days when I get home from my day I walk around the yard. You know you still have time to plan your veggie garden when the picnic table is under the 3 feet of snow you walk upon.
This tri-footage of snow seems to be secluded to my house only. One of the local golf courses has opened the driving range, tulip bulbs are popping up in Wilmington, tree buds in Bloomingdale and still an ice glacier on Whiteface. Hopefully with such hot weather and rain in the forecast, my tri-footage will be gone and I will embrace mud season!!

You're on the wrong side of Saranac Lake. The further east you go, the less snow there is. Rich used to congratulate me on picking out our house which usually had the least amount of snow in the yard in the entire tri-lakes area.
And I'll have you know I'm too sick to gloat. [cough cough]
My neighbor always says "It depends on what side of the road you're on." We face South, so most of ours is gone. She faces North, and her place still looks like Winter. It's coming soon! Spring that is. I promise! Ted says we still have a ton in the backyard - we're wide open back there, so it all drifts over.
